কোলকাতা হলো ভারতবর্ষের পূর্ব দিকে অবস্থিত রাজ্য পশ্চিমবঙ্গের রাজধানী । এটি যদিও ভারতবর্ষের পূর্বদিকে অবস্থিত তবুও এটিকে পশ্চিম বঙ্গ বলা হয়ে থাকে। যখন ব্রিটিশরা ভারতবর্ষে সাশন করতো তখন কার ভারতবর্ষের রাজধানী ছিলো এই কলিকাতা। পরে ভারত স্বাধীন হওয়ার পারে এই রাজ্যের নাম হয় পশ্চিম বঙ্গ। রাজধানী কোলকাতায় প্রায় ৫০ লক্ষ্য মানুষ বসবাস করে। এদের মধ্যে অধিকাংশ মানুষের ভাষা হলো বাংলা। এই কোলকাতাতে অনেক ঐতিহাসিক স্থান রয়েছে, যেগুলো কোলকাতাকে করে তুলেছে স্বপ্নের মায়াপুরি। এই ঐতিহাসিক স্থানগুল হল যেমন ; Victoria Palac, Eden Garden Stadiu, Birla Mondir, Indian Museu, st. Paul's Cathedra, Dokhineswar Mondir, Belur Moth etc. This city is the city of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore. This city is the city of fulfilling the dreams of common people. The whole world is fascinated by the charm of this city. For this every year the huge numbers of Foreign visitors comes to visit the city , fascinated by the city of beauty of Kolkata.
